How do you deal with chicken / dust allergies?

I normally use Piriton, which is an anti-histamine. However, it can have a slight tendency to make you drowsy (although I rarely notice it).

The only anti-histimine pill that it is legal for pilots to use is Clarityn, because it doesn't make you drowsy - and there are a lot of things that you can't take when you're a pilot (I fly sailplanes, which is how I know lol)

We've had 3 days of spritzing rain and the air quality has really improved.
I've been using Claritin and Mucinex for 7 days and I can breathe (deep breath) without choking or wheezing.

I'm better educated now, so if I have another episode, I won't let it get to the point where I *can't* breathe.
That was frightening. I've never *not* been able to breathe before. I have a new understanding for all the people who have asthma / allergies/ breathing problems.
All my dear friends who said they *couldn't breathe*, when we were hiking /horseback riding/ monking around in general --- sorry, I didn't understand til now.

I luckily don't have asthma, but I'm alergic to every animal and plant, Claritin works pretty good for me but have to be used with a painter, or medical mask. Also I have to wear long sleeves(when cleaning chicken coop, mowing, or throwing hay), some things irritate my skin too. In a pinch you could breath some Vics vapor rub or their breath right strips, but while you're trying to get yourself to the hospital because it is no replacement for inhalers and such. Oh, and I always have Purell or something near to clean my hands with after touching anything I'm allergic to because I may try to get to the house or hose to wash my hands, but it just doesn't seem fast enough because I'll forget and wipe sweat from my face and BOOM!!! Sneeze attack and swollen eyes!!!

Since moving to Texas from Florida my allergies have reduced dramatically! I use to have Sinusitus (sp) seemingly non-stop my whole life till I moved here.
