How Do You Deal with Stress?

Lol, I agree with the Xanax hehe.

I downloaded some relaxation music off of Amazon, got some really great stuff an hour long for $.99 and I put it in my MP3 player. Whenever I feel stressed, I play it. Also, breathe with your gut, not your chest. Many people breathe with their chest when you should be using your diaphram, so practice breathing with your stomach, your chest should not rise much. My problem is that when I am stressed out, I tend to not be able to sleep because my mind does not shut down.

something that cannot be good for me. i hold it in. as a result im a very stressed person and will one day burst from the stress and go sphycho crazy

The thought of being annihilated while sleeping has bothered me at times and used to stress me out at bedtime. I was convinced that some foreign country's space debris would have a bullseye on my bed, it never occurred to me that it might be U.S. space junk that would wipe out my house or at least the roof over my bed. I could vividly plot the trajectory to impact while trying to go to sleep. It is one of the reasons I have a two story house now, guests sleep on the second floor. This is how I dealt with the space junk stressful situation.

I come from a very abusive childhood and lots of craziness. Now, I am happily married with 3 kids....stress can be common but I have a way of dealing with it! HORSES! Hop on my mare and riding off into the country is so theraputic! IT IS THE BEST way to deal with it IMO And my DH is wonderful - he brings me flowers weekly and gives me lots of love and wonderful BACK RUBS

When I become stressed which isn't often. I think about my sons accident.(Fractured skull with an air pocket, detached nose,& multiple lacerations. I know he could of easily of lost his life that day. I think about how lucky we are he's OK. It gives me a feeling that I'm the luckiest person in the world for having what little we do have.

JUST A MONTH AGO I finally learned how to breathe. I never could do it, got confused about the diaphragm and the solar plexus and the chest rising, etc. Then a respiratory therapist showed me and its so easy! PUSH YOUR SHOULDER BLADES BACK! SEE IF YOU CAN TOUCH YOUR RIGHT SHOULDER BLADE TO YOUR LEFT SHOULDER BLADE. AT THE VERY LEAST, PULL YOUR SHOULDERS BACK. It's amazing. Now I can do the breathing I learned in "HeartMath" very easily during stress. I'm an RN, stress is just part of every day I work, and I had been knitting well into the night to try to debreif my head after long hard shifts. Now I can breathe during the stress event, and I can go home and sleep like normal people. PLEASE TRY IT AND POST A REPLY, TELL ME IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, TOO! Straighten up, shoulders back, breathe in for count of 4, breathe out for count of 5, repeat, notice the belly rise and fall, not the collarbone......
