How do you distinguish chicks?

You can use leg bands. Nail polish is toxic, I'm pretty sure that's not good for them. I have a hamster that lives in a cage with my sister's hamster and they are pretty much identical. I use a little bit of watercolor paint on her foot to be able to tell which is which. Watercolor is typically non-toxic and washes off really easily. I have somehow been able to always tell seemingly identical chicks apart. Spend time with them and look for differences. It really amazes people how I can tell all my same-color birds apart!
