By the way, a plastic quart mayonaise jar uses the same lid as a small mouth mason jar. I drilled holes of the appropriate size in the plastic top for sprinkling and put a used small mason jar lid under the plastic ring to close it when not in use.

Can you use it beginning with new chicks or is there an age they should be before they are exposed?

I have read on this site that cayenne pepper (3TBSP per gal of feed) will prevent worms- Would you do that in lieu of the DE in the feed, both?
Sorry for all the questions- as you can see I am a very new egg. My BO babies are only two weeks old today...We took them outside for the first time for some fresh air this weekend...
My dad suggested to me to cut the leg off of an old pair of pantyhose or use a pair of knee-highs and use it to shake out the DE. I tried this yesterday and it worked great for me.
