How do you get a chicken to hop onto your shoulder?

I just put them on my shoulder when they were babies....I think they liked be higher than the others.....They WILL peck your eyes but I loved having my peeps on my shoulder

Only got pecked in the eye 1x RIGHT after this pic was taken.... it HURTS (but was better by the next day - thankfully)

BUT it might just be nostalgia bc now when i let them outside they want nothing to do with me..... in the house though, it's all about being on mom's back (highest spot in room).....

Wow, I've gotten fabulous answers. The reason I asked is question was because I read in a book how if chickens are close to you, then they will sometime jump onto your shoulder for protectiong or something. And then I was sad that my chickens never hopped on my shoulder but after reading the answers, I guess a peck in the eye isnt worth it,... Unless I wear my glasses? Hmm...

I do wear glasses and sometimes my Rocks will nibble the arm a little. 95% of the time they either preen themselves or nuzzle up against my neck. One time one of my girls made a light peck next to my eye but never since. You weigh it for yourself. As for my, my Rocks are welcome on my shoulders but my Rhodies are not. They might go for my eye so I don' take the chance.

I do like them to snuggle in my lap. I've learned to wear a long sleeved flannel shirt, so that when they are "roosting" on my lower arm I don't get scratched. Also, they tend to think my freckles are food!
