How do you get poop out of her feathers?

I came back today and one of my chicks (9 day old Shania) has a little patch of poop stuck in her feathers on the back of her neck. I tried a wet paper towel to try and get it out but but she started stressing and nothing was comming off so I put her back in the brooder. It's really matted in. Any recommendations?

Either leave it alone and it will get powdery and you can just use your fingernails to get it off (gently) or wash it off under the faucet. Just make sure you dry the chick well and keep her warm until she is all the way dry.
