Sad news... the fox has killed my 2 buff cochin hens, and my hen duck

it has been 2 days in a row and he comes whenever im not around (i do close the chickens up at night) so how can i prevent him from coming? I did find my ducks body with her head ripped off so we rigged a trap and tied the duck to the other end. I am hoping that he will be stupid enough to go in the trap so i can finish him off. But i do know foxes are very sly so im not so sure.. My male duck is going back to his original home where he will hopefully be safe and happy. I have looked at getting a fence that is predator proof or seems to be pretty good but i have 20 chickens and 15 more getting ready to go out in the coop so what type of fence would be safe, cheapper, and hold a lot of chickens? Thanks, Bri

My beautiful buff girls who where probably the nicest chickens i have ever had:

I have so many types of preditors here, but thats one thing we don't have here. Do you have a trap? Thats one investment I'm glad we made. I'm not sure if a fox would go in one, but I would think so. Do you have a dog guarding your flock? I had 2, but one of them disappeared recently and I hope he returns soon. They can be Godsends, if properly trained.....thats really the trick though.

I caught a fox in a Hav-A-Hart trap in south Carolina. It was baited with canned cat food, and he went for it. Guess he was pretty hungry.
