How do you get rid of the rubber smell?

P.S. Genaral update on the rubber pan: It has now been THREE MONTHS of the pan airing out outside, and IT STILL SMELLS!!! Ugh. Definitely a "never again" moment.
We all have those learning never again moments. I would consider using it in the shed or barn for storage, in the garage for an oil drip pan, or simply cut your losses and toss it.

I have a friend who uses those rubber pans on her farm to feed her sheep (dry pellet feed). I wonder if it would be okay to give it to her. Dry pellets won't absorb stuff from the pan the way it may leach into water... so it might be okay... I don't want to give her anything dangerous, but I'm also not convinced the pan is actually dangerous (certainly not for feeding dry pellets).

Thanks for starting this topic. You gave me a good reason why I wont buy such water container if i need a new one.

I use an old ceramic bowl (porcelain salad bowl) for my chickens. Easy to clean. Doesn’t get hot.
Besides I use simple nipple waterers ( meant for rabbits) in the coops, to be sure the chickens always have access to water in case the auto doors fails.

In winter when it freezes I use a heating element in the ceramic bowl and lay a brick on top to be sure the heating element stays under the surface.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here but I love a good pungent rubber pan😌

I wonder where these pans are made of.
Probably not new real rubber but a synthetic sort or recycled stuff.
Made from old tires? Like the outdoor floor mats? I can’t imagine that would be healthy when a scent is coming of.

Would you like to drink from a cup of such rubber? 🤮

I like it, don't ruin this for me.

Yes, everyone should have the experience of chugging rubber water, wether that's from a rubber pan or a garden hose left to bake in the sun all day😋
