We have 6 girls that are laying. They have a coop they go in at night. It has nest boxes for them to lay in. However, there is a couple that are laying in an old shed (to broken to fix into a chicken pen and its in the yard, hubby says no chicken pens in the yard). How can I stop them from doing this and make them go in the nest. They are free range chickens and we live in the country. I hate to keep them up all the time. What do you recommend to get all of them laying in there coop? They go in at night and we let them out in the morning before I go to work. Should we change it to only letting them out for just a few hours before dark? Thanks in advance.

Lock them in the coop for a week. They will complain like something awful, but they will have to lay their eggs in there. Then, when the week is over, let them out as usual. They should go in and lay in the coop on their own. It's kind of tough, but it should fix their problem. Good luck!
