I thought it would be interesting to see how everyone handles their broody girls.

Do you try to keep them from going broody or do you hope they do? Do you have problems with them failing to leave the nest and how do you handle it?

What other topics do you think we can come up with? I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's ideas!

For me, it depends on the goose and the location of the nest. If nest is not in a secure location, I will bust it up or relocate it. If broody is extra dedicated about sitting, I will bring food and water to her nest. If possible, I will give goslings to a broody to raise, which makes a broody super happy.

I found that with my girls this year they didn't get off the nest for the first couple of days unless I picked them up and made them go outside to get some exercise and food and water. I covered the eggs for them and they didn't seem to mind the time away. After the first couple of days they seemed to get the jest of things and now I no longer have to encourage them to get out and about.
