How do you handle unwanted evangelists who knock at your door?

I am starting to doubt my 'nice guy' approach....what do YOU do when this happens?

Supposing this is not a church that you want to join, what do you do?

I know someone who gets the dogs barking and frantic by yelling a certain church groups name that come calling to the door.....
got dogs if nice isn't doing the trick? Or you could turn it around and recite stuff about whatever YOUR faith is and run them off.....

The last time we had this happen, the boys hat showed up were soooo hot and tired from walking around in the sun all day. We look "different" so they seemed a bit weary of us, but we invited them in too cool off and have some ice water. When they started talking us up we just politely told them who we are and what we do believe in. We let em know that we don't discriminate against what they believe, but that we won't be swayed into going to church or any of that buzz . Now they just stop by every now and again for ice water an chit chat

Not to mention when the new ones come around and start talkin bout religious stuff we listen and change the subject.
"ma'am, are you interested in the word of so and so?"
"aren't you cute! Are you guys roomies? Where do you live?"

I tell them firmly, to leave and not come back or tell them my doctrine....then they leave running!!!!

well I only threaten the police when the nice approach does not work. Usually I am nice, then if they persist I tell them about my religion and ask if they would like me to try and convert them, then if they keep going I then tell them to go away and don't come back.
