I have a driveway from hell...need a 4x4 to get to my house, nice walk uphill if you want to try on foot, yes i keep it that way....nobody will come up it just to save my soul....

i usually just talk to them politely and they give a pamphlet then they leave, real quick and simple, no need to argue with them
one time some women came to our doorstep with my disabled uncle on the porch so they started talkin and my uncle was like if i do convert will god make me normal in his broken english and they did not really know what to say and my uncle kept repeating the same thing and the women walked away real fast

well since you're going to post then run so as not to deal with the opinions or responses of other people, here we go.

your religion is not the only one that believes you will suffer in the afterlife for not believing what so and so believes, so if you're wrong your're still in trouble any way.

also you say that people preach tolerance but then scold other beliefs. it isn't the case, what they have problems with is when people are pushy and rude by trying to change one's own beliefs.

I will not go into why I am not christian, since it would cause an argument, much like your above post may very well do.

So what seed are you throwing? Scolding people, causing anger and hurt feelings then running? that's awful nice of you.

I agree with this as well. I still will throw them a life preserver, feed and water them when they are hungry or thirsty. If they need the divine word, I would pull out the Bible and hand it to them, without ANY word but whatever works for them. there is no such thing as HELL as one of my aunt said (she is Catholic) as a place but hell for your soul. Well for me, if I don't care about anyone else, my conscience will bother me in why I didn't help him when he is so hungry and I had to turn my back on him when I have plenty of food? I don't HAVE to be religious or of faith to do the good deeds of mankind.

As for me when I do get those kind of people, I would say no thank you. Many times they DO come back and start a little pushy. So I quit answering the door or wave them on down to the next neighbor. I would love to get into a debate with them whatever I learned from the History Channel (ie. the ten plagues which there are many scientific proofs to back it up even today has it as well). They don't stick around long enough because it would get heated. Even the sign "NO SOLISCIATING" would not deter them either.

I treat them as I would like to be treated. I tell them thank you but I'm not of there religion but thank you for your time, I will not be changing my faith so it's really not worth there while to come back, but if they want to exchange scriptures, and talk about our differences I'm more then glad to do so. I have been told they can not listen to my doctrine and I tell them I have nothing to hide, Jesus died for me on the CRoss, I'm not ashamed to talk about my God, and any time they would like to know how I serve my God, and how I live my life there welcome back.they never come back, but I will not be rude to anyone who comes to my door.

I answer the door naked and ask them if they'd like to come in for a little "tea" (and I wink when I say "tea"). That usually does the trick.

ETA: I don't know about ALL religious groups, but I've been told that if you have a statue of the Virgin Mary and a Catholic prayer taped to your door, the JW's won't even bother to knock.

Is that a Pentacostal smilie?

My soul is already saved.....I don't need or want anyone coming to my door to force their ideas down my throat. I had a couple knock on my door this week and my security door is screened so I could see them but they couldnt see me (of course JRT was madly barking behind me) They commented "oh we can't see you" and I said....."Thats good because NO THANKYOU!" and closed the door IF someone wants to be saved or learn about Jesus or God then they will (and God will guide them) to the right people to ask questions of.

I think what works best is to be related to people in each religion. Dh's siblings are all very much into each of their religions (all very different religions). They all know we are not into religion at all. They put out an apb to their doorknockers to avoid our house because we're a lost cause
