How do you hold them w/o hurting them?

I just got my "Pinless Peepers" and tried to get my grown son to help me put them on my 7 week old chicks. I did my best to hold them still enough, but a point was reached where I was afraid I would hurt my hens. Their neck and head seems so fragile and after loosing one to ijury already, I am reluctant to hold them too tight.

Any suggestions?

Are you putting peepers on chickens? Why? If chickens are housed and fed proper diets, this is not necessary.

I know we use them on our pheasants, but for them it is sometimes necessary due to fighting and aggressive breeding behavior. We only use them on the cockbirds, not the pheasant hens though.

I have only 7 RIRs which are about 8 weeks old. They've been in my garage except for the warm days. They have outgrown their 30" x 36" x 14" wire cage, but I will be building their new coup over the next few days. Then I can proceed to spoil them as we do all our pets.

I have been considering putting "Pinless Peepers" on a couple of my RIR hens. They are very aggressive to my 16 week old pullets. Right now they are in their chicken jail. The other older birds will chase the younger ones but two especially get very aggressive and yank out bunches of feathers or whatever else they can grab. They really pounce on the younger birds. Has anyone ever tried them?
