what does everyone do when bringing a new chick into the flock. mum chicken had one of the baby chicks killed by the brown warren, i am now worried how we are going to get the new chick into the flock with the mum. they are kept in the coop in a brooder so they are seeing the new chick and mum every day.

Not sure I'm really understanding... If mum hen has other chicks, and lost one (killed) but still has other chicks, then why are you adding another? Regardless, if you wish to add in a new chick and "graft" it on to the mum hen I would wait till full dark and slide the new chick under mum's wing alongside the other chicks. Hopefully by morning, the new chick will smell enough like mum and her other chicks that it just becomes one of the group. Of course, there's no guarantee this will happen, so you need to be vigilant the next morning.

sorry not made myself clear, mum and chick are in a coop inside the chicken house, but i will have to move them eventually back all together, i am worried about the other hens attacking the mum and chick. how do you let them run together again.

Open the coop within the coop and let mum and chick(s) leave and return as they wish... No matter when you reintegrate them, a new pecking order will need to be established. Just make sure there are multiple water/food stations to avoid fighting over either and enough space for the chick to escape/hide if need be.

i think i will wait until the chick has grown his feather in, i am hoping she will protect him. bless. i wish the chickens were nicer to each other.

Don't wait that long(4-6 weeks) best to get mum and chick into flock in the first week while her broody hormones are high.
