how do you know if a cockerel is mating

ok i have a couple of pekin bantams in with a pekin cockerel and i've noticed that their are alot of feathers in the pen and a few missing from their neck does this mean hes mating or is he feather pecking!!

are you getting eggs? you can crack one open and look for the bulleye that would indicate fertility.

You'd have to watch them. Rooster love is pretty violent in my opinion. They seem to be attacking more than loving!
