How do you know if a goat is pregnant?

Update: I still have no idea if Rosie is preggers or not, but her nipples are firmer, and Jack isn't trying to mount her like he is Lil' bit. However, they are all obnoixious! They now come to the front door, which is glass, and if we dont acknowledge their "baaaa!", little bit starts tapping on the glass!

That's too funny. Yesterday we were watching the Broncos game and we hear knocking on the front door. My husband went over to check it out... it was my Nigerian Dwarf wanting to come in!

I agree with Buff..... little booties...and if her gal friends throw her a shower.
My experience has been that it's almost impossible to tell if a goat has been bred. My Amish friends wouldn't even venture a guess on my one doe.
You do know a possible breeding date so you will be able to keep a good eye on her when she is due.

Arggh! Just got a call from the vet. The hookworms are back. More goat wrangling on my part. My meds were on backorder, and got in today!

Sigh.

If she is pregnant, will the medicine hurt the baby? She came back negative last time, and isn't coughing this time either. My vet is woefully ignorant on goat stuff, but is the only large animal vet within 40 miles.

Alright, so I went out to feed and deworm the goats. Lil bit, the pygmy, kept rubbing on my leg, and generally being a pest. I snatched her up to worm, and noticed how HEAVY she is. Fearfully, I slid my hand under her belly to her previously tiny nipples.

They are large. And Firm. And a little moist.

As are Rosie's.

One accidently pregnantgoat, I can explain to the long suffering DH. Two? Anyone got a spare room and goat pen?

and Jack? I swear to god, he was grinning horn to horn.


Seriously, their udders are like little balloons. This just happened like that last 48 hours. This would be week 14/15. According to the book, thats when they would drop. Should Itake pictures of their backsides? Would that be too gross.

I'm so dead.

Moist like where the milk would come out, not lactating, but if I gently squeezed, a clear liquid came out.
