I have two geese i got as babys last spring. On april first we added another female. They get along great this new female is laying eggs and sitting on them. I havent seen my male mate her or even act like hes interested all three geese protect her "nest". Do they do there "thing" at night?

They tend to mate in the water during the day. Do you have a pond or a kiddie pool? Mine are kinda sorta fumbling with some mating ritual. They are only a year. i see my male and one of the females necking with each other, then some biting on the back, and then one tries to get on top of the other, but so far no luck. One of my females laid a couple eggs a month or so ago but they weren't fertile. i don't know if we will get any fertile eggs this year.

I saw mine do "it" after I would refill their pool. I never saw them doing it until I got them a slightly deeper pool, about 12" deep rather than 8". It could be a coincidence, but I am just throwing that out there. Also, since they started mating, she has a few feathers mussed up and missing on the top of her head where he grabs her. She looks like Alfalfa. My pair are the same age as yours.

My gander is very vocal about his mating, everyone in the county knows when
Sammy is in the pool

I second that! Although, mine haven't been breeding since all the girls went into their broody daze . . . even the one that didn't hatch out a nest isn't being courted, or looking interested. I'm hoping that means breeding season will be over soon, and I don't have to argue with grumpy ganders. Two of mine have calmed down a lot, but one is still as tempermental as ever . . .
