How do you know who's laying??

I want to select for great laying ability and I understand the basics (keep laying records, breed from birds with great records...), but... how do I know which duck is laying which egg so I *can* keep records? Tips and tricks?

Maybe you could set up something to record the girls, especially if you're not home during the day.

can you put dye on their vent so it tints the eggs like you can a chicken?

That way you could put one color per duck and have a whole little record.

I have heard of people using different shades of lipstick on the vents instead of dye.... Only I guess you have to be careful where you store the lipsticks after use on the ducks
