How do you lower the calcium in your chicken's diet?

My chickens have too much calcium in their diets. They have hard eggshells and have extra calcium deposits on the outside of their shells. Is their anyway to lower the calcium in their diets?

Fresh vegetables and whole grains are naturally low in Ca. Why the concern for hard egg shells?

Truly, you want hard eggshells. Often eggs will have those little bumps here and there. Just feed them a quality layer feed and they should be fine. I always supply crushed oyster shells for extra calcium, but if you truly feel they're getting too much, don't supply that.

I am incubating the eggs too, and the chicks had problems hatching. I know that this is an incubating and hatching eggs question, but some people only buy hatching eggs and haven't dealt with this problem before on the other thread location.

That makes sense. you could also mix in some all flock feed.

I plan on foregoing the layer feed. All flock or flock raiser (whichever one is available in my area) with crushed oyster shell on the side. This will let the hens decide how much they need/don't need.
