I had intended to take part of the shed I have in back of my house and use it to house about 3 ducks. It is approximately a 12' by 16' foot shed. It has a plywood floor. What would I put on the floor to make that work??? Will that work? Do duck coops usually have a dirt floor instead of a plywood floor (Are they right on the ground???) I was going to section off a part of the shed for the duck pen. I am obviously new to this, any help I can get will be appreciated. I also have a chin-link dog run to use so they can get outside. I live in Alaska, and we get quite a bit of snow in our area... average about 300 inches.

What type of ducks are you intersted in getting? Not all species are cold-resistant. I would use a concrete slab as flooring, ducks are VERY messy and will muddy up a dirt floor. A plywood floor would rot under all the droppings and spilled/splashed water. If you are going to get a conrete floor, slant it slightly so when you hose it down, the water runs out on one side. Hope this helps,
Kirby
