Hello all poultry enthusiast. I am wondering what you all do to market yourselves. What price do you feel is reasonable for a dozen chicken eggs considering feed prices, time and labor, initial price of stock...etc.?

Hi! Welcome!

In my area, we have community FB group pages. Cities, communities, neighborhoods. We post on there when we have eggs available and they get swooped up FAST. There aren't enough BYC folks here, plus there is an egg shortage. For pricing, it greatly depends on your area. what is the cost of a dz at the market? You could probably charge 1.5X that. Here, a dz med is $4.69! I ask $4. from friends and neighbors. I donate to a shelter when I can. In San Fran, a dz organic farm raised eggs fetches $7.!
If you'll type in your state in this link, you'll find lots on folks near you that can help with these questions. https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=where+am+I+where+are+you
Best of luck to you!

We've never really marketed our eggs but neighbors know we have chickens so when they need a dozen, they let me know. I recently upped our price from $2 to $3. One set of neighbors I never charge, they're an older couple that have become friends.

@Mutt Farm has given you some good information to check out. If you have other questions, feel free to ask. Or just jump in on the forum discussions, there's always room for 1 more!

Nice to have you here!

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you joined us!

I primarily sell to neighbors and people at work.

You can check Craigslist and see what other farm fresh eggs are going for and compare that to the grocery store. Farm fresh eggs are going for $2-3 per dozen here and the store was at $2.69 per dozen just a few days ago. Hence, I just upped my egg prices from $2 to $3.
