My kids rowed at the Sarasota Florida Sprint leagues and again at States same location and both times we saw a 12 foot alligator swimming around near the finish line after the boats were done - suffice to say we did not toss in our coxswain at the end of the day.

Yes, Florida is full of alligators. Just full of them. They'll eat your yappy little dog if you're fool enough to let them harass them. Snakes. We have snakes too! Many of them venomous. Stay away from the water because the moccasins can be aggressive and are easily annoyed.

And the fire ants! They'll get into everything. Even your homes and cars.

Sand spurs, cacti, poison ivy, stinging nettles, cat briers. We have them all.

Makes all that snow and ice more attractive doesn't it?

You failed to mention the pidgeon sized mosquitos.

A.T. you forgot to tell them about the Palmetto Bugs (3" long roaches on steroids) ! They just laugh at bug sprays. Only thing to do is saddle and ride 'em.​

I'm here in Texas & we do alot of wade fishing in the bays for speckled trout. One day we were wading in the back bays & I look over & see this object floating in the water & it looked like a log . Then all the sudden this big log starts moving towards me. Need be I made it back to the boat in record time. I'm not sure if it was a crock or a gator but I wasn't sticking around to find out.
