I have five young buffs. They were so messy with their water in the brooder and it was so warm outside (95+day, 80 night) I moved them to my garden when they were 2 weeks old. Gave them a little dog house with bedding and a kiddie pool to splash around in. I did the garden because it's well fenced so they could be safe and they don't seem to care for my veggies. Anyways, they're 6 weeks now and I tried relocating them to my pond (man-made tank) about 500 feet down the hill from my house. They seem happy as can be swimming around and what not but within an hour they're always back at my garden gate standing in a little cluster fussing to get back in. I herded them back to the pond a couple times, gave up and let them in for the night rather than leave them sitting outside for the coons, and tried again. They even have a little house at the pond with food! Any ideas how to break them of the garden and get them to stay with the pond? That's where I envisioned them living when I bought them in the first place...

I have 6 ducks in my city backyard, so not too big. Mine have grown to LOVE my patio and were sitting under my table and chairs. Of course, they do all their pooping there too, which is where we like to eat breakfast, etc. Just yesterday I put some wire fence around the patio so they can't come in and I also dumped my compost out on the ground in the back of the yard. They LOVE digging thru the compost. I also keep a kiddie pool by the compost. SO, long story short, I have given them more to do in a different part of the yard. Maybe you can get yours interested in something where you want them to be. Good luck! They don't seem to break habits too easily, do they!!??
