Hey everybody! I plan to ship an Australorp rooster to a place that is four hours away from where I live. I'm going to use USPS but I'm not sure how long it will take or what box I should use.

There's special shipping boxes to use. It should only take 2 days but occasionally takes 3. Since it's so close probably 2. I only know this because I'm having 2 hens shipped to me about the same distance and researched online and then called my local PO to ask questions. Weird I know, considering I'm the shippee not the shipper, but I'm a little overprotective of my chickens (even ones I haven't met yet lol)

I would but I plan to ship him on monday and if i order a box online it might take too long. :(
Would a normal cardboard box do?

That I dont know. I'm sorry :( call your local post office and ask. Mine is very friendly and helpful! I dont see why it wouldn't work as long as there was enough bedding to soak up the poo liquid. but there may be some regulation about the box. Maybe they sell them at the PO. I didn't ask about acceptable boxing because the seller ordered the live shipping boxes online
