How do YOU ship your hatching eggs?

THIS IS THE BEST WAY I HAVE FOUND SO FAR FOR BOTH ECONOMY AND FUNCTION


1ST YA GO TO EBAY AND GET SOME OF THESE..

THEN I TAKE REGULAR TISSUE AND FAN FOLD IT INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE CUPS...

INSERT THE EGGS...

CUT A PIECE OF BUBBLE WRAP TO FIT INSIDE--- IF THE EGGS ARE SMALL DOUBLE THE BUBBLE WRAP! YOU WANT ENOUGH IN THERE TO PREVENT MOVEMENT...
FOR COTURNIX EGGS I HAVE FOUND 12 INCH WIDE BUBBLE WRAP CUT 4 1/4 TO 4 1/2 INCHES WORKS WELL, IF DOUBLING I CUT 10 INCHES AND FOLD...

THEN CLOSE THE CARTON AND PLACE A COUPLE OF STRIPS OF TAPE OVER IT TO PREVENT INADVERTANT OPENING, THEN THE WHOLE CARTON GETS WRAPPED IN 2FT OF 12 INCH WIDE BUBBLE WRAP...

THE APPROPRIATE SIZE BOX GETS EITHER AIR PILLOWS OR SHREDDED PAPER LAYER IN IT AND THE EGGS PLACED WITHIN...

INSERT MORE SHREDDED PAPER FOR PADDING- I LIKE THEM TO BE SNUG IN THEIR BOX SO NO GIGGLING CAN HARM THEM...

SEAL THE CONTAINER, ADDRESS IT AND SHIP...

BOOM BABAY! SHIPPING MADE SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE

JJ knows how to ship eggs, came home from turkey hunting and got them. Not a single one was broken. I got a good laugh out of how you showed they were upside down.

Shipping has gone up every month it seems as well.. They say the PO is bankrupt, i dont see how in the world that is possible..lol

I suggest using the USPS Priority Mail SHOE BOX instead as it allows room for more packing material on ALL sides of the egg carton. That way the carton touches no side of the box.

Another method I use is to wrap the eggs as above then pack tightly in a smaller Priority box which is then packed into the box shown above with padding on all sides.

Having worked in a post office I know that most cartons are thrown around and not read so I don't know if a bunch of warnings on the outside so any good. The worst shipment of eggs I received had warnings plastered all over the box and eggs packed in shredded paper in an egg carton....all but one of a dozen were broken or scrambled.

When packing fragile items like glass the post office suggests packing in double boxes, so why not for eggs?

The shoe box is not 'strong' enough to ship eggs. The #4, #7, and all regional rate and flat rate boxes are made of a stiffer cardboard than the shoe boxes so they stand up better to squishing.

You must have gotten some small boxes if the eggs you've received weren't packed well on all sides. The way I stated above on my packing is the way I've been shipping them for about 2 years (since I first started selling coturnix eggs) and I very rarely have any arrive broken.​
