How do you stop a dog from "marking her territory" on your carpet?

Quote:
It's a new home for her so she needs to make it known this is where I live. Dogs go by scent so if they mark it then it will tell other dogs hey I live here as well so what you need to do is the old paper towel trick it will take a few times of her doing this but it will work.
1. sop up the urinin a paper towel
2. place said paper towel outside in the back yard
3. allow the dog to sniff the paper towel
4. keep soping it up and place them in different parts of the yard and take her to that area each time
5. if she poo's in the house do the same thing only leave it in the yard so she will know where to go the next time.
6. give her a stern no then take her to the door and have her ring a bell (you can make one cheap) that is hanging on the wall (you will have to train her to do this)
7. take her outside after ringing the bell to one of her "Sniff spots" (paper towel with urin on it)
8. when done praise her with a treat
9. repeat repeat reapeat as many times as it take till she is trained but I would also dog create her at night which that is easy as well.

1. lock said dog in create at night teach them by saying go to kennel then place her there (after awhile she will understand)
2.lock the door (they will whine but soon get over that)
3. first one awake in the morning take dog out of create, ring bell, take to Sniff spot, let her walk around smelling other spots and before you know you have a house broke puppy or adult dog

Good Luck with this

JFTR: I am not a dog training pro I just know what worked with my dogs and this is how I have done it I have a lab/rot mix rescue dog 1year old.............and I have a beagle/Jack russ mix (the wifes dog) adult 7 years old trained both useing this method and now I have two trianed housebroken dogs.
