how do you take care of an orphaned chick?

My hen hatched 4 chicks yesterday. Another one I helped out of its shell after I heard the egg chirp. It lasted through the night inside my shirt. Now what do I do to help it survive? How do you get it to drink water and what do I feed it? The other chicks are following their mom around and doing fine. Thanks a bunch for any help. Kim

I don't have much experience with this sort of thing either. You could search the archives... I remember reading that people have successfully slipped an extra chick under Mom hen. It is probably best for her to raise the chick if at all possible.

To make it drink you can show it to the waterer and dip its beak in. It will get the idea.
