I know I saw on here somewhere how to teach the newly hatched chicks to eat, but I can't find it..

Sprinkle the food on something shiny like a little square of aluminum foil, and "peck" at it with your finger or a pencil or pen. They'll get the idea pretty quickly.

Sprinkle feed on the floor of brooder and I even put some on on the bator floor. Then a new dime in a jar lid of feed is JJ's trick, and it works. Bill

YES AND PLACE IT DIRECTLY UNDER THE HEAT SOURCE... MAKE IT THE WARMEST SPOT IN THE BROODER AND THEY WILL HANG OUT THERE... ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE NOTICES THE "SHINEY" AND STARTS PECKING.. BEFORE YA KNOW IT HE HAS A MOUTHFUL OF FEED... 1 THING LEADS TO ANOTHER AND THE NEXT THING YA KNOW YOU WONT BE ABLE TO KEEP ENOUGH FOOD IN THERE TO SUIT THEM

I ALSO SPRINKLE FOOD THROUGHOUT THE BROODER FLOOR FOR THE 1ST 3 DAYS OR SO...

Cool..definately am trying this...so far, the lone chick in the brooder is sleeping in the middle of the food!
