I did a search and came up with 115 pages of everything with the slightest mention of an egg.

We found 4 of our eggs in the neighbors dog house for their cat and have no idea how long they were there.
I know there is a way to tell by putting in water but I can't remember the whole saying.

Thanks

there are two ways to tell if you got a good egg the float test or candling them or just plain cracking them open. the float test if it floats its older because the egg has gotten more air in it. If it sinks its fresh. In the candeling test you look at the air cell and if its small its fresh and if its large its old.

Put them in a pan of water...if they float, toss them. If they stay on the bottom, they will be OK. If one end moves up or they seem to levitate above the bottom of the pan, I would toss them as well.

Great Thank you!!
They sink to the bottom. we were just going to scramble them for the chickens anyway Just didn't want to crack a stinky egg.
