I just got six leghorns. I notice a lot of people name their chickens. How would I tell these apart? They are all white!

No eggs yet but I'm hoping any day now.

I just simply carve their 1st initial into their combs.

Im just kidding!

Spottedcrow mentioned the best idea I've run across. The zip ties are cheap and come in a rainbow of colors.

If you really look closely at your birds, you should be able to determine some difference in the combs or waddles. Look also at the feet and legs. If you watch them and look at specifics all at the same time you should see differences amoung them! Way too much fun......

Numbered legbands, until you learn their personalities and other differences (ex: comb shape, how they talk, shape of body, etc). I have 2 dozen buff orpington and know each one by name and they all basically look identical (at least to the average person they do).
