How do you track how old your eggs are?

One co-worker says he writes the date on his eggs with a sharpie. I was wondering if any one used other ideas on how to know how old your eggs are.

We currently have seven hens, six are laying and we almost always get six eggs a day, sometimes only five, but mostly six. It is just the wife and I and there is no way we can use all those eggs. We live in farm country and people with chickens are not in a shortage. Most of my co-workers have at least a few hens for eggs. I tried giving eggs to the one co-worker that does not have chickens and he declined. That may explain why he only keeps chicken in the summer and then gives them away in the fall.

I really have no interest in trying to sell our excess eggs, I give them away when I can, but want to make sure the eggs are fresh.

Related question, how long do eggs stay good? I know eggs in the grocery store have an expiration date on them, but don;t know how long those eggs are in the packaging process.

I mark mine with a crayon.

Nearly everything has a known lethal dosage even water and oxygen that can both kill you in higher doses, as does a slew of common foods we eat everyday so yes like Cinnamon one should keep in mind the limits... No one is says soak your eggs in Sharpie ink overnight or whatever, writing a date is a minute amount of exposure, and even less when you consider what might actually make it inside the egg if any...

As for smoking, lets focus on the subject at hand, writing on an egg with a Sharpie is not equivalent to smoking in any regards, that is just a silly highly exaggerated comparison...
Would you grind up the graphite/clay/binders in 100 pencils into your glass and drink it? Lets, be realistic here, focus on the application and hand and avoid the hyperbole extremes, OK?

We are talking about writing the date on an egg nothing more... So can we stick to the relevant subject and exposure potentials of that taskalone, while avoiding absurd exaggerations and hyperbole of unrelated topics and substances?
And that is your choice, doesn't mean those who do differently are wrong...

No need to get snippy. I'm just explaining a point here. You don't have to take it personally
If you write the date on that egg every single day and eat one every single day I believe it adds up. I'm not saying that you'll die instantly when you eat the eggs and that you need to stop. All I'm saying is that I (ME, MYSELF) would not do it. You decide for yourself and let others do as they please. As you said yourself, It is their choice and they are not wrong.
Back to the original post. We have occupied more than enough unnecessary space so I'm done here :)

With a number 2 pencil I write the day of month on large end of egg...today is 11/20/15...I write 20 on todays eggs. When day 20 of dec rolls around all day 20 from nov are long gone...works well for me.
