How do you treat pox?

What over the counter medicine will treat and cure pox (my birds don't have it, but I want to be prepared just in case)?

Nothing will cure fowl pox, it has to run its course since it is a virus. You can put iodine on the lesions which will help shrink them, avoid the eyes when using iodine. For a lesion near an eye and if scratched, it can cause a bacterial eye infection. Then you can apply a small dab of Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin in the eye as needed.
You can also purchase the Fowl Pox vaccine and vaccinate your birds if you wish.

If you live in the Deep South, the tropics, or Texas, fowl pox is very prevalent. Here is the Ohio valley, we never see it even though we have mosquitoes in summer and fall. Where are you located? You can add that to your avatar.
