I'm trying to figure out my chick order and could use some help.

Soo...how do your Wyandottes lay? When did they start?

I have 3 GLW's and they lay bigger eggs than my EE and my BR. First GLW started at 24 weeks, second at 28 weeks and last at 30 weeks. They have laid through the winter. I get about 4-5 eggs a week from each GLW, now that it's spring 5 a week pretty consistently. They are not a breed that lays very early to my understanding but are also pretty good during the winter. They are about a year old now and I never had 'abnormal' eggs from them except 2 double yolkers very early on...slightly smaller the first few weeks but very consistent size and color since

It depends a lot on the strain you have. If they are exhibition bred they will likely take up to 30 weeks. I think birds from the larger hatcheries lay much earlier than that. Mine started at about thirty months, they are quite consistent layers now. They are pretty darn good winter birds.

You will like them. I think few of them lay as well as a RIR no matter the strain.
