How does a broody act?

Ok... soo I have this hen who for the last two weeks all she wants to do is sit in a box. But not on eggs. When I get near her she almost screeches and puffs her feathers up. When I take her out of the nest box, she walks around all puffy with her butt in the air... ? She wants to sleep in the nest boxes and when I move her to the roost she just gets down and goes back to the boxes. Best me but, would be grateful for any help!

She's broody, no doubt about it.

give her some fertile eggs and you're away,

So even though when I go in the coop to collect the eggs in the morning she isn't on any eggs, she is still broody?

Yup! They stop laying when broody and will sit on eggs, golf ball, or nothing at all! If you want to hatch some, just slip a few under her!
