How does one cool a bator down ???

So hot here today ..think its over 38 ...even with my bators door open ..its still over 38 degrees ... anybody have any remedies???

Toasty! If that is a homemade one, are you using a bulb as a heat source? If you are there to monitor, you could switch off the bulb, or maybe you have already done so. Depending on your room humidity and at what day of incubation you are on, I would be concerned about humidity loss with the door ajar. Are you using a fan or is it a still air incubator?

Home made one out of a deep freezer ... electrical element for heating ...5 fans inside ... yip humidity went down to 12 percent ..left it that way for an hour ... i'm guessing that tomorrow may get up to the same temps ... i kept spraying the eggs with an atomiser every half hour even before i left it open ..need to think of a solution tonight that i can implement !

had an idea earlier which i may try ... got 3 vents ..half inch each .. 1 in the top -1 halfway down the side and one at the bottom ... if i were to connect a long piece of half inch plastic hose to the bottom vent and plug up the middle one ( run the other end spiralling through a icebox packed with ice ) hot air would leave the top vent and suck cold air through the bottom vent through convection ??? Low cost air conditioning sytem ... but how effective would it be ???any ideas ???

... i'm on day 14 now with the eggs so hoping low humidity levels wont effect the eggs as much ...its after day 18 when it goes into lock down and i cant vent the hot air that might be a greater concern!

For future hatches you can install a peltier engine. In one direction it will act as a heater in the other it will act as a chiller. You can google the design and info on how they work.

Already know about peltier modules ... they used in cooler boxes ..actually have a few in stock ..experimenting using them to generate electricity from my exhaust under my car ... problem is with the semi conductor , p and n setup ...one side would have to be external to the incubator and the other internal with a heat sink attached... nice thought but .. really dont want to be cutting holes into my bator ...

If the cold side loop from the compressor is still intact it may be possible to use that as a water loop (depending on your water system, Any water discharged from the loop would have to go to waste as the loop may contain lead).

Your idea of using tubes and a ice chest should work and the change in temperature should be capable of creating its own air movement especially since you are only looking for a 1-2 degree drop. Any cooling will affect the humidity so adjustments will have to be made to compensate.
