How does rapid growth pass down?

So I have 2 chicks so far out of 24 and they are growing very fast. Making gains much faster than the rest. One looks male and one looks female. Is this sort of genetics passed on to offspring by only 1 parent or does it take 2 parents?

Genes are passed on by both parents, yet sometimes it may seem like it was just one, so they can carry a genetic trait for their next chicks.

What breed are they? Some breeds grow way faster than others, for instance, many meat bird breeds.

Hopefully you are correct and it is a faster growing female and not just a second cockerel. Tag it and find out. If it is a pullet then evaluate for any major flaws, if none then breeder!

Fast fleshing is a trait of Deleware and New Hampshire. It should be bred for.
