How does temp and light impact a hen's ability to lay eggs?

Right now I'm dealing with a hen that is in rough shape due to an egg incident, you can read that in a different place, but it was told to me that it takes a hen a while to drop that egg into the reproductive tract and at the end of winter light, their eyes reacting to the lack of light, and the body shuts off making the shells, hence being sluggish/no laying.
It was a reliable source yet I've never been concerned with having a light on although I did in the past few years.

Now can I add to the question "How does temp and light impact a hen's ability to lay eggs?" and "does temp and light impact a standard/bantam birds differently" ? (I do not mean to "highjack" this question" as its a super question)

From what I have seen temp and light will NOT effect chickens laying. Mine stay in coop till 10 am no extra light and temps in the high 20 down to low teens. We are getting a steady dozen a day which we were get before winter hit. I have had a few start laying since winter started. Coop is not in the sun either and has no glass windows just wood. Now these are first year chickens so I imagine next year they will take a break since this is when many moult.

thanks!

Since I cannot run power out to the coop and heat does not seem to be the issue, I will try a LED light with a rechargeable battery. Hopefully it is not too dim.

and of course does this mean my Ameracuana has SAD [Seasonal Affective Disorder] ?
