I Like Turkeys
Crowing
I just had two bantam eggs hatch from a broody hen today, the parents of the eggs a porcelain d’uccle rooster and a silkie cross hen, and the chicks appear to be more black-skinned?(fibro?) They have black beaks and completely dark legs, along with what appeared to be blackish-white skin. I was surprised, to say the least, i did not expect the chicks to look like this. So I’m wondering how that gene passes on? If the mother shows it somewhat, but the father not at all, what are the chances the chicks look that way? Two more eggs may be set to hatch, so i’m curious if they may be the same. I’m pretty certain the porcelain d’uccle is the father, he’s the only rooster the mother had been with for maybe a month prior to laying the eggs she did.
