Hello. This will be my 1st winter raising chickens & of course I am nervous and paranoid. So I need your help. 😊
I have been working on a new coop for my growing flock & I was wondering if I am on the right path or not.
What do you think? What should I add or change? Any tips would be appreciated.
Remember this is unfinished, still have a little more to do to it like put on the TIN ROOF, put up roots going side to side, probably 3 or 4 of them.. I'm also adding a board going above the nests for extra chill spots & a ramp of course (45* at least, right)
Do you think this will do them good in the winter? Like where the vents are and everything?

im no coop expert, but that looks pretty well! The only thing i see that could be useful near future is a dropping board, this of course isnt needed but makes clean up a bit easier! I think that it looks nice otherwise.

Are the latches to the nest boxes and pop door also temporary? If you live where there are raccoons, they can easily open the latches you show.

Are you planning to have bedding? A removable board across the door openings will help keep it in the coop. It will spill into the nests too but that won't matter if you plan to use the same bedding in both places.

Agreed, there maybe should be more room for bedding.

good work, the coop is not in the ground, bad conductor of heat and electricity used for walls, but here's a suggestion if you don't live in a place the has a lot of moisture (in frigid and temperate), would be better if you make the roof of wood as well :) (that's just a suggestion, tho depends totally upon you :) )

I think they already are, they mentioned something in the thread about it, its probably temporary. Having a coop higher may actually be a bit good to, because it prevents most animals burrowing underneath, and is often more secure.

I presume that the tarp is temporary and that you have vents at the top of the slope too?

If yes, and all those vents will be covered in hardware cloth, you've got really good airflow going.
Its 100% temporary. This is a UNFINISHED coop lol they aren't living in it yet. I just wanted to show everyone where I am at in the process and get any tips anyone has so I can fix stuff before moving them into the new coop. 😃
