How does this Silkie look for showing?

The rule I try to go by when it comes to color in blacks or blues is the blues (regardless of how dark the outsdie is) if the inside of the feathers (close to the body) is a light blue, the bird is a blue. Black will be black. I had a hard time for years until I got a REAL black bird, now I know. your bird is a blue.

check his bum fluff for color. he has a nice dark comb

Ok, so it has stopped raining and today i will get some pic's. I will up the quality on the camera phone so i can get better photo's

So what color should i breed him to? i have a greyish blue frizzel in with him now. he also has a white silkie roo and hen in his pen. He is much bigger than the white roo who is older. we call him Monster

Well that depends on what you want the result to be. Here is the blue/black/splash formula:

Blue x Blue = 50% blue, 25% black, 25% splash
blue x Splash = 50% blue, 50% splash
blue x black = 50% blue, 50% black
splash x black = 100% blue
splash x splash = 100% splash
black x black = 100% black

I am showing in 4H for the first time and im totally lost! i have a white pullet and and a cuckoo cockrel. The show is next Monday! YIKES! what do you guys think about my birds? any tips or comments? And i know the cockrels comb is the wrong color but my 4h leader told me to go ahead and show him because some of the judges might not disqualify him because its just a 4h fair...
