How durable are PVC-coated meshes?

Hi

I'm looking to build some quail cages using PVC-coated meshes in order to avoid bumble foot. Considering quail poop is acidic, how durable are these meshes usually? Would the poop melt the PVC over time?

It will start to rust at the cut ends, but you will be fine.

I never make a bird stand on wire either. If the bedding is not working out you can line the bottom of the cage with this stuff:
expanded plastic mesh
It is not abrasive and easy to clean. It works especially well for ducklings who will get normal bedding wet and nasty in about an hour.

You can also lay down a piece of this stuff:
mesh shelf liner
