how early can broodyness show

we bought a couple of chicks to ad to the ones we just hatched... an austrolorp rooster and a black giant pullet... the giant already acts kinda broody... she chases the rooster chick away from the others and tries to sit on them(which is kind of funny because she's almost the same size as them)... is this common?
 
I wanted to know this too, glad you asked!

she even attacks our hands when we pick the other chicks up
