OK OK, since everyone was TWISTING my ARM about candling again (lol by everyone, I mean ME), here are the results!

Sadly, I don’t think Sophie made it. No veining, just a dark blob in the egg. You guys let me know your thoughts before I pull it, but it looks significantly different than the others.

I have video footage of Lainey’s feet which was awesome and Billy the kid was kicking too. I saw movement in all but Sophie. I’m sorry, @SunriseChickers I will probably do an eggtopsy later, but that egg was more porous than the others so I’m wondering if that played a part.

Amazing how much they have grown! Is there any hope for Sophie?

Unfortunately I think she quit, probably yesterday or the day before. I will candle once more before pulling it to verify, but the absence of veining usually indicates death. She looks much different than even day 7, where there was lots of healthy veining.

I’ll probably post a thread about it once I do the eggtopsy, as I’m trying to learn as much as I can to improve future hatching and learn what could have gone wrong. I have a feeling the shell was too porous which could have allowed bacteria in more readily, but there are so many things that can go wrong for these little guys it’s hard to tell sometimes.
