So I had a duckling hatched January 20th pas away last night and she started wobbling and wouldn't eat yesterday. I gave her a water fowl booster thinking she was low on vitamins or something but she passed away a few hours ago what happened?

Hi,

So sorry about your duckling. I know how hard that is. Sometimes we just don't know why.

What do you feed your ducklings? We fed ours an all-flock and then added about a teaspoon of Nutritional Yeast to their feed per day for extra vitamins, especially niacin, which they need.

Well see here's the thing it's a duckling I hatched for my boyfriends birthday because he really wanted a Saxony duck for his flock I know what she was eating when she was here but he has like a custom mix that he runs through a feed grinder so I don't actually know what she was eating with him she was with him since like the end of January he kinda lives 7 hours away

So she hatched January 20, and you transferred her to him around 10 days later, she should’ve been in a Brooder with 80° temperature at that age, little Ducklings do not have the ability to keep themselves warm without a heat source. They also need another duckling, or at least a stuffed animal friend they get very sad when they are all alone. AndI don’t know you’d have to tell the whole story of what he did did he just put her in with a bunch of adult ducks or something? There are lots of reasons she could’ve died regarding her food and her water source and her living set up. Also, if she was swimming that age (one or two weeks old) is too young to go swimming except for a couple minutes in water that is not deep that is only covering their legs. and then they need to go right back to their heat source.
But I’m guessing, since she made it to almost a month old and then started wobbling she may have eaten something toxic ? It’s really hard to know. I’m sorry your duckling died. It’s very sad. 😢

She was kept very warm for the drive through she did escape once and climbed into my lap. She was relocated so soon because unfortunately I'm in the same house as my ex fiance and the girl he cheated on me with. She unplugged the ducks heat lamp at one point resulting in the death of her sibling so I decided she was safer with him away from these "people". She was kept with a brooder in his bedroom pine shaving bedding food and a water but not enough water to swim in the only thing I could think was the food he had was lacking vitamin B3 that maybe his other duck's are getting from another source since they free range.

Ducklings need to be kept at a stable temperature with adequate protein and B vitamin percentages, niacin in particular but the other Bs are also crucially important.

That said the ducklings symptoms could have also been a result of an infection or exposure to some sort of toxin, either ingesting metal, paint chips, some sort of poisonous plant, or inhaling toxic fumes from overheated nonstick cookware or some sort of aerosol.

Beyond that considering the social environment you described I wouldn’t rule out human error, intentional or accidental and it could have also been a combination of factors, being stressed from fear as well as an improper diet and temp may have weakened her immune system and left her too weak to fight off exposure to an illness.
