i don't know what to post. i really have a lot going on in the garden these days, so i'm not out in the world.
i guess birds.
we have 3 chimneys and these jackdaws live in one of them. they make a lot of noise and you can hear it coming out of the fireplace. i'm really used to it.

this is a magpie that set off my camera. it's blurry, but i think their feathers are beautiful. you can kinda see that, but the blue feathers didn't show up in this.

and this crow still has one white feather that sticks out from the rest of his feathers. i spotted him months ago now, and i thought it was a fluke and it would surely fall out. but it's still there!

I wonder if the crow with the white feather is older. Like how people get white hair? My Ravioli has had a single white feather the past two molts now and this molt French Fry grew a singe one, also. Neither of them have any other white in their feather patterns. But both are a little older in the chicken world. Rav’s gotta be at least 5 or 6 and frenchy is 4 now. Maybe there’s no correlation between age and feather color but I often wonder! Did you name the crow? You should give it an old person name lol

Also how funny you can hear the jackdaws through the chimney!

oh! i didn't know that! that's a possibility.
i'll have to think of a good name. it hasn't come to me yet. it's gonna be soon though. i feel it.

are you sure rav isn't like 7 or 8? 😂😂😂

I'm always happy to see birds; I love them. Half the reason I love my chickens is that they're birds and they like to be petted.

The magpie photo is cool, and the crow with one white feather. :love
the magpies are menaces. i like them, but they are little devils.
they were tormenting the song thrushes? i think that's what they are. they live in or near the holly tree out front. there was an awful commotion today. the magpies were probably stealing their eggs.

i'm thinking his name should be sweeney todd. to go with the tim burton theme... he is friends with edward scissorbeak afterall...
sweeney todd (johnny depp) had a white streak in his hair.
what do you think?

I wondered if there is another reason than age.
This bird has unusual white around the beak too. Is it possibly a mix between a crow and a magpie?

This is called leucism and it's actually not all that unusual :)

thanks for that! that's so interesting.
i have also been noticing a jackdaw that is like mr and mrs speckles, only there are more and bigger speckles. i thought maybe it was one of their offspring, but reading that... maybe it is just an older mr or mrs speckles! the sad thing about it is there's only one. so the other must not be here anymore 😢
