I got 3 chicks from the feed store last week. I was trying for 3 Welsummers but ended with 2 Wellies and one from what people are are saying is an EE. We have only had SS up til now so I don't know how fast others grow or how fast their feathers come in. When we got them the 2 Wellies were 1.2oz and the other one was 1.3 oz that was at 8 days old today they are 12days old and the Wellies are 1.6oz and 1.7oz and the other one is 2.0oz. I have been trying to take their pictures often. Today I noticed she holds her tail feathers up high.
don't know if it helps but here is a wing pic
and a side-top view

any help is greatly appreciated.

Hard to tell since so many different kinds of chicks start out chipmunk patterned and I can't see the comb in any of those pics. I don't see a visible sign of muffs either, but I will say that EE chicks DO seem to grow much bigger much faster than any other breeds. They slow down as they get older, but between 4 and 8 weeks mine were massive compared to all the other chicks I had.

It's probably too early for people to say. But I did want to mention that my Easter Eggers grew and feathered out much, much faster than the other breeds I had that were the same age.
I meant to go back to your other thread and say that I thought it was an Easter Egger because of how far along the tail feathers were compared to the other two.
I'm not an expert on Easter Eggers or anything. I've had two batches of chicks this year and both of my batches had some Easter Eggers. So I'm just telling you what I've experienced

Here's one of my Easter Eggers at day 8.

And here's one at day 12

I had 2 EE without muffs. I also had a few that didn't look like they were going to develop any and then as they got older they did.

Wow Maev yours at day 12 had way more feathers. Maybe mine are not as old as they said they were at the feed store. They told us on the 2nd when we bought them that they were 7 or 8 days old.

Also, some people think that the really thin eyeliner on EE chicks means it's a boy, but I had one that had really thin eyeliner and it was definitely a pullet.
Did you check out the Easter Egger sexing threads? I think there are two of them.

I have two EEs, and still don't know the sex. I am hoping no roos because I love both of them so much! Mine looked a lot like yours as chicks.

Well, those are pictures of my first batch. I got them the 2nd of February. I have noticed that the batch I got the first week of April are feathering out slower than my first batch. I brood them on my enclosed back porch which is not insulated and fluctuates in temp quite a bit. So from being in the mid 30s for a daytime high in feb and now with highs between mid 50s to 70s and a one day high of 90 on the back porch in april. It makes sense that my first batch would have feathered out a lot faster.
Unfortunately, I haven't taken pictures of my second batch the way I did with my first batch. I've been crazy busy!
