I have 5 week old chicks, some have definite red combs already. I'm assuming those are roos...is it safe to say then, that if they DO NOT have a red comb yet it's a pullet? Some that I thought were pullets are starting to get pink now....when do PULLETS actuall start to get pink on their own? TIA!

In most cases, a cockerel's comb will redden at 5 weeks on forward. As for pullets, I often wait until about 3 months, but it depends on the combtype. Single combs are often the earliest and easiest to tell. But remember, comb does not tell everything. There are also hackle and saddle feathers.
