Just an update for you all,
I decided against the necropsy after speaking with a pathologist at the state extension office; since I only have five other chickens, his point was that the worst case scenario is she had Mareks, and there's nothing I can do since the others have been exposed, and since they have no negative symptoms, I would be spending 100+ dollars on tests when that much money would buy me ten new chickens. His thought, since no others were sick, and since she was sick for so long and didn't die naturally, was that it was probably a congenital issue. I have to agree that economically, I don't have the money for the testsI'm just going to keep a close eye on my birdies, and maybe get some new protocols for hygiene, since wild birds have been an issue in the yard. Hopefully I'll have better control of their nutrition that way, too.
Thank you all for your advice and support
