How far does roost need to be from wall?

I've got 3 standards & a banty. DBF is nearly done with the coop ...

... and needs to know how far from the wall a roost should be. I'm thinking 6-8"...?

Our coop is long but narrow (7'x30") in order to fit into a side yard

I have 4 different roosts and they are anywhere from 6" to a foot, they use them all....

Jenn,
If the roosts are farther from the wall, say 15", then it will be less likely that the hens will 'fertilize' the wall during the night.
