I disagree on buttons being worse. Usually all male groups work pretty well.
I have a group of 5 males at the moment. One of them is plucking the others a little, but he also plucks the female if I put him in a pair - it's not as bad when there are 4 birds to pluck..
Even introducing new birds to this group is pretty easy most of the time. I remove and add birds every now and then when I get new chicks and there is less chasing than when I introduce a male/female pair to each other. To date I think I've only had one male I couldn't integrate into this group. And if I'd tried harder it might even have worked with him.
This male group is within 4 feet of a pair and there are 3 more pairs in the next room, so they can definitely hear the girls.
